Home Sweet Home - Mustangs put finishing touches on unblemished Allee regular season

SIOUX CITY, IA – A 16-2 run through a large portion of the second quarter enabled National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics' No. 9-ranked Morningside College to stretch its win streak to 16 straight Tuesday, Feb. 9.

The Mustangs received a substantial test over the opening 10 minutes and early into the second quarter from visiting the College of Saint Mary. The Flames kept it within 10 (28-18) before the vital roll from head coach Jamie Sale's team increased the advantage to 24. Mside didn't look back from that point, closing out an 80-46 Great Plains Athletic Conference victory.

Senior guard Faith Meyer (SR/Pomeroy, Iowa) (Pomeroy, Iowa) led the Maroon attack, who concluded their home regular season at 11-0 and upped their Allee Gymnasium and Rosen-Verdoorn Sports Center triumph string to 13 in a row. Meyer tallied 17 points, gathered five rebounds, and dished out five assists.

Junior forward Sophia Peppers (JR/Exira, Iowa) (Exira, Iowa) added 13 points, draining three three-pointers along with Meyer. Senior guard Sierra Mitchell (SR/Pleasant Hill, Iowa) (Pleasant Hill, Iowa), becoming just the fifth player in program history to reach 1,900 career points, with a 10-point night. Freshman center Chloe Lofstrom (FR/Armstrong, Iowa) (Armstrong, Iowa) was just off the same pace with a strong eight-point, five-rebound contribution.

Morningside (22-2 overall, 20-1 GPAC) concludes their regular season Saturday, Feb. 20, with a trip to Northwestern College's Bultman Center in Orange City.
