Mustangs break out the bats in Branson

BRANSON, Mo. — The Morningside University softball team scored 35 combined runs Monday in a pair of wins over Ecclesia and Mission in the Turf's Up Classic.

With the two victories, Morningside is now 4-2.

Morningside 22, Ecclesia 2 (5 innings)

The Mustangs scored in four of the five innings, including eight times in the third inning. During the first inning, Morningside scored five times, all with two outs.

They also collected four extra-base hits, led by a home run from Kennedy Wineland. Paige Schuster, Ellie Gengler, and Lillian Harris hit doubles in the win.

Jenna Skradski drove in four runs, while Gengler had three RBIs. Wineland had two RBIs.

Bralen Biddlecome and Maggie Fisher allowed two earned runs on six hits combined, while striking out four. Biddlecome threw 56 pitches in three innings; Fisher needed 30 pitches through two innings.

Morningside 13, Mission 2 (5) 

Skradski had a team-high three hits, and two of them were triples. Those two triples helped her drive in a trio of runs.

The Top 3 hitters in the Morningside lineup — Wineland, Jalyn Noelle, and Lainie Keller — each had two hits. Keller and Adeline Fliege hit doubles, and Fliege had a three-RBI game.

Nobody in the Mustang lineup struck out during the win.

Fliege earned her first win of 2025 in the circle. She faced 20 batters, and allowed two hits. Neither of the two Mission runs allowed were earned. Fliege struck out one and walked two.
