Softball drops three games Sunday in Alabama

GULF SHORES, Ala. – Morningside added a third game to Sunday's slate after Friday's rainout, but were unable to pull out a victory in a triple header in Gulf Shores Sunday afternoon.

The first game was a 10-2 loss to Reinhardt. Mackenzi Harrel tripled to score Mackenna Sidzyik to make it 1-0 Mustangs in the first. After Reinhardt scored two, Kennedy Wineland singled to score Ellie Gengler to tie things up at two heading into the bottom of the fifth. Reinhardt scored eight in the bottom half to pick up the win. Jenna Skradski pitched the first four and a third innings with Morgan Secora finishing the game, recording one out before Reinhardt won the game.

Game two was a 5-4 win for Campbellsville, who scored one in the seventh to steal a victory.

After the Tigers opened up a 3-0 lead through two-and-a-half innings, Kennedee Jones hit a three-run blast to tie things at three after three.

The Tigers responded with one in the fourth, but Morningside re-tied the game at four when Laryn Johnson scored on an error. A bases-loaded walk for the Tigers in the top of the seventh sealed the win.

Johnson tallied two hits for Morningside and Jones' lone hit was a three-run bomb. Lainie Keller added a double. Morgan Secora pitched three innings and Jordan Skradski pitched four.

Much like game two, game three ended in dramatic fashion, as William Woods walked-off Morningside 3-2 in nine innings.

After going scoreless through five innings, Morningside broke through with Emma Barwick and Gengler scoring on errors to make it 2-1. The Owls tied the game in the bottom of the seventh, and scored the walk-off winner in the ninth.

Paige Schuster had two hits for Morningside and Sidzyik tallied a double. Bralen Biddlecome pitched the complete game for Morningside, going eight and a third innings and striking out two.

The Mustangs head to Montgomery, Alabama to face Faulkner Tuesday.
