Morningside places 9th in GPAC championships

Mustang men place ninth in conference meet

JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Senior Levi Son led the Mustangs to a ninth place finish in the men's 8k run at the Great Plains Athletic Conference cross country meet in Jamestown, N.D. Saturday morning.

Son crossed the finish line in 38th individually, running 28:02.67 for Morningside. A trio of Morningside freshmen crossed the finish line back-to-back-to-back, as RC Hicks, Nick Schiltz and Casey Kruger took places 51-53.

Hicks crossed the line at 28:38.14, followed by Schiltz at 28:42.23 and Kruger at 28:45.13. Junior Mason Welker was not too far behind the freshman trio, running 28:57.8 for 56th individually.

Senior Tyler Janssen ran 29:32.71 and senior Tanner Arens 30:21.12 to be the sixth and seventh scorers for the Mustangs. The two non-scorers for Morningside were freshman Parker Halder (30:59.62) and Rodrigo Lopez (33:45.76).

Dordt had the top four finishers in the conference meet, led by Joe Anderson at 25:29.62, to win the team championship.
