
Mustangs blank Briar Cliff
SIOUX CITY, IOWA – The Mustangs scored a dominant road victory ahead of the second round of Great Plains Athletic Conference duals this weekend. Morningside blanked Briar Cliff on the road, winning the dual 48-0.
The Mustangs led from the beginning as Noah Thorsen took a victory via forfeit. Christian Ahrens built Morningside's lead with a 6-5 decision and Hunter Steffans' 12-0 major decision extended the lead to 13-0.
At 149 pounds, Chris Aragon was the first Mustang to get a pin, adding six to the team score. Caden Eggleston added a 5-0 decision, and Blaine Christo added a 20-4 tech fall at 165 pounds to open a 27-0 lead.
Alex Vandyke scored the match's second pin at 174 pounds. Carson Turnis won a 7-2 decision, and Bryce Kwiecinski and Jakob Jerabek finished the night with a pair of pins.
The Mustangs compete at the second round of GPAC duals this weekend at Dakota Wesleyan, with Midland, Hastings, and Doane all remaining on Morningside's schedule for the season.
