Mustangs ranked 24th in NAIA Preseason Coaches Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Morningside University men's wrestling team will start its season ranked.

On Thursday, the Mustangs were ranked 24th in the Preseason Coaches' Top 25 Poll, receiving 55 points. The Mustangs sent seven to the 2024 NAIA Men's Wrestling Championships.

The Mustangs also saw three men individually ranked in the Top 25 in their weight class.

Zander Ernst was ranked fifth at 165 pounds, the highest individual ranking among the trio who saw their names. Ernst won 24 matches last season, including three by fall and seven by technical fall. He finished eighth last year at nationals.

Alex Vandyke was ranked 12th going into the season at 174 pounds. He earned 15 wins last season, including three by fall and two by major decision. He returns after qualifying at the national tournament last season.

Jakob Jerabek, Morningside's 285-pounder, was ranked ninth nationally. He saw seven of his 11 total wins come by fall last season.
