
Pin parade opens busy GPAC dual set
SIOUX CITY, IOWA – A bevy of bonus-point victories served Morningside University well Wednesday, Jan. 26.
The trio of junior 149-pounder John Diener (Kaukauna, Wis.), sophomore 197-pounder Hunter DeJong (Sibley, Iowa), and sophomore heavyweight Brenick Hoppe (LeMars, Iowa) each ended their matches early, propelling head coach Jake Stevenson's Mustangs to a 34-12 Great Plains Athletic Conference victory over Northwestern College. To the delight of the home crowd at Hindman-Hobbs Center Fieldhouse, the bonus-point victories resumed when junior 133-pounder Taylor Vasquez (Fountain, Colo.) got the measure of the Red Raiders' Manny Jaramillo 14-6 to assist the Mustangs' stampede.
Morningside (4-1 overall, 4-1 GPAC) ended with eight of the ten individual victories. They resume a span of four league duals in four days Saturday, Jan. 26. Mside faces Midland University, Hastings University, and Doane University at The Arena Sports Academy in Sioux City. The action begins at 11 a.m.
