LAMONI, Iowa — The Morningside men's volleyball team closed out the regular season with a three-set sweep over Graceland in Heart of America Conference play.
Morningside (13-14, 8-11) beat the Yellowjackets by set scores of 25-15, 25-14 and 25-22.
The Mustangs hit .293 in the match, including hitting .323 in the second frame, and an even .300 in the final stanza.
Ten was the largest lead the Mustangs held in the first set, which came on a service error from Graceland.
Three kills from Liam Lutz, Tharen Cox, and Donte Jennings closed out the second set.
Morningside's largest lead was three in the closing set, including at the end. Jennings had the final kill before the match ended on a Yellowjackets hitting error.
Jennings led the Mustangs with 10 kills, followed by eight from Kirby Schmalz. Jacob DePauw had a team-high 15 assists, while Gabe Schreck collected 14.
Tucker Juhnke had a team-high eight digs, then Ferdinando Vinti had six. The Mustangs also had eight solo blocks, including two apiece from Cox and Mohamed Benkrid.
