SIOUX CITY, Iowa — The Morningside men's volleyball team again played tough to a nationally ranked team on Friday, losing in four sets to No. 10 Mount Mercy.
Mount Mercy won by set scores of 25-18, 26-24, 21-25, and 25-18.
Morningside won its set in the third, ending it with a 7-4 run. Mohamed Benkrid started off the rally with a kill, then Liam Lutz had a pair, and Natan Alves closed the set with two kills. In the third set, Morningside hit .355, and it committed two errors.
Alves led the Mustangs with 14 kills, while Lutz had 11. Alves also had two solo blocks. Gabe Schreck had 28 of Morningside's 39 total assists.
Libero Owen Anderson had a team-high 13 digs, while Benkrid had 10.
