Mustangs split pair at Mount Mercy

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA – Morningside Men's Volleyball split a pair of contests at Mount Mercy, defeating Graceland 3-1 in the neutral site game before falling to the hosts 3-0.

Morningside's block played a huge role in the win as the team tallied nine total blocks. Individually, Tharen Cox led the way with a pair of solo blocks and four block assists. Natan Alves had three blocks, and Erik Krenz and Isaiah Baynes had two apiece. 

Behind the block, Owen Anderson had nine digs, Alves had six, Jacob Baynes had five, and Isaiah Baynes and Krenz had four each.

Jacob DePauw tallied 37 assists, dishing to Alves for 14 kills, Isaiah Baynes for 10, and Cox and Krenz for six apiece.

DePauw notched another 28 assists in the nightcap, finding Alves for 14 kills and Isaiah Baynes for 11. 

Anderson had 14 digs in the three set loss, DePauw had 10, and Alves and Jacob Baynes had six each. 

The Mustangs are back on the road on Friday, March 29, as they start a two game conference road trip at Central Christian before playing Kansas Wesleyan on Saturday, March 30.
