Mustangs fall in GPAC semifinals

SIOUX CENTER, IOWA – Morningside Men's Volleyball's march into the Great Plains Athletic Conference took it to Dordt University tonight, hoping to upset the Defenders for a trip to the conference championship. Unfortunately the match didn't go as hoped, with Dordt getting the win over the visiting Mustangs, 25-17, 25-17, and 25-19. 

Morningside tallied three total blocks in the match against the Defenders, who remained receiving votes in the coaches' poll that was announced today. Natan Alves had the lone solo block for the Mustangs, while Dylan Hamil, Erik Krenz, Tharen Cox, and Jacob DePauw all had block assists. 

Alves led Morningside in the digs column today as well, totaling eight digs. Owen Anderson was close behind with seven digs, and Emilio DeWitt, Hamil, and DePaw came next with three each. 

DeWitt dished the ball for eleven assists, splitting time with DePauw, who had 10 assists. 

Alves racked up nine kills in the match, with Kahakai Kahoiwai tallying six. Cox was third in line for Morningside with four, while Krenz and Hamil had three each. Jesse Lowe rounded out the team's total of 26 kills with one in the match.

Morningside's season ends with an 8-13 overall record and 5-5 conference mark, finishing third in the standings.
