Mustangs sweep Central Christian, 3-0.

Mustangs find fortune on the Ides of March

SIOUX CITY, IOWA – The Mustangs were unfazed by the Ides of March as they took the floor against the Central Christian Tigers in the season's regular season home finale tonight.  Morningside, unleashing a punishment on the Tigers from the service line as well as at the net, collected the win in a three-set sweep, 25-11, 25-14, and 25-13.

The Mustangs win was aided by a record setting performance from the service line.  As a team, Morningside recorded 12 service aces, championed by Dylan Hamil, with six of his own.  Both the team and individual marks stand as new program bests for three-set matches.

The Mustangs attack was not to be overlooked, as the team struck for 38 kills with just eight errors, hitting at a season-high .411.  Isaiah Baynes led the way with 14 kills, hitting .480.  Erik Krenz followed with 10 kills in 13 attempts, good for a .769 kill percentage.  Jacob DePauw tallied 29 assists on the night.

Ever-steady Owen Anderson was the leader in the digs column, recording 12, but tailed by Isaiah Baynes with nine and Jacobs Baynes and DePauw with five each.  Erik Krenz led the force at the net, with two of the Mustangs' four block assists.

Morningside wraps the regular season with back-to-back matches at Kansas Wesleyan and Central Christian, Thursday and Friday, March 17 and 18.
