Mustangs fall in primetime clash

SIOUX CENTER, IOWA – Morningside Men's Volleyball played a rare Thursday night match, traveling to Dordt University for a GPAC clash, pitting the two Iowa teams in the conference against each other in Dordt's De Witt Gymnasium. The Mustangs fell to the home Defenders in the primetime clash, 3-0, with scores of 25-12, 25-19, and 25-21.

Morningside's offense totaled 26 kills, hitting a .058 hitting percentage off of 21 assists. Jacob Baynes (FR/Mankato, Minn.) and Kahakai Kahoiwai (SO/Wahiana, HI) shared top honors for the visitors, each collecting eight terminations. Tyler Godown (JR/Las Vegas, Nev.) followed with five, while Kyle Cox (SR/Mancos, Colo.) collected 19 assists.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Mustangs scooped up 22 digs, led by Jonah Mika (SO/Las Vegas, Nev.) with nine. Cox and Godown each followed with four.

Morningside is back in action tomorrow, continuing a series of three road games in as many days at the University of Jamestown. Action is scheduled to get underway at 7 p.m.
