Men's 4x100 hits B standard at Central Methodist Invite

FAYETTE, Mo. – The first weekend competing on the track turned out to be a national qualifying weekend for the Mustangs' men's 4x100-meter relay team, as the squad punched its ticket to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships. 

It was Leighton Oleson, Moseman, Gbaley, and Jaydon Moore that clocked the B standard time in the 4x100, placing third in 41.14 seconds.

Parker Halder upped the ante as he took second place in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:22.28. Halder, Morningside's highest placeholder, was the top collegiate runner in the event, finishing behind Morningside assistant coach and alumnus, Garret Ehlers, who was competing unattched.

In the 800-meter run, Cade Johnson was the first of a herd of Mustangs, placing seventh with a time of 2:01.4. Laken Bellis followed in ninth at 2:02.08, Casey Kruger in 10th with 2:02.48, Kadyn Cline in 11th at 2:03.45, and Chayton Rowe in 12th with a time of 2:03.72.

Gbaley led Morningside's sprinters individually as he placed 10th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.59 seconds. Moore clocked in at in 12th with a time of 10.60 seconds.

The Mustangs look ahead to next weekend, when they head to the USD Early Bird in Vermillion, S.D. on April 4 and 5, with the Sioux City Relays looming on the horizon the following weekend.
