
Olesen and Gbaley lead the Mustangs at the GPAC Indoor Championships
MITCHELL, S.D. – The Morningside men's track and field team competed in the Great Plains Athletic Conference Indoor Championships this weekend.
Leighton Olesen took second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.20 seconds. Olesen also placed fourth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.92 seconds, Kumunule Gbaley immediately followed in fifth, also with a time of 6.92 seconds. Olesen crossed a hair ahead of Gbaley at 6.914 seconds, while Gbaley was at 6.919.
Kadyn Cline placed sixth in the 600-meter run at 1:24.95, and Theo Moseman took seventh in the 400-meter run with a time of 51.28 seconds.
Jaydon Moore, Cline, Gbaley, and Moseman took sixth place in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:28.70.
Morningside earned all-conference recognition in five events, with Olesen placing in the top eight in both the 200-meter dash and the 60-meter dash, Gbaley in the 60-meter dash, Cline in the 600 meters, and Moseman in the 400-meter run.
The men's track and field team goes back to work behind the scenes as it prepares for outdoor season on March 28, at the Central Methodist Invite in Fayette, Mo.
