Bellis takes 600 title at Mount Marty Opener
YANKTON, S.D. – The Mustangs laced up their spikes for the first time in 2025 as Morningside's men took to the track at Mount Marty for the 2025 Mount Marty Opener.
Laken Bellis was the highest finisher for Morningside as he took first in the 600-meter run, followed by teammates Chayton Rowe and Casey Kruger in second and third. Bellis crossed the line in 1:25.63, with Row at 1:27.65 and Kruger at 1:28.58.
Jaydon Moore collected a second place finish in the 60-meter dash, turning in a time of 6.92 seconds, just seven one-hundreths of a second off of Morningside's record. Teammate Lane Kruger was two tenths behind Moore, finishing sixth in 7.12 seconds.
Leighton Olesen also collected a second place finish of his own in the 200 meters, completing his lap in 22.32 seconds, while Kadyn Cline took third in the 400-meter run in a time of 52.29 seconds.
Cline, Moore, Olesen, and Kumunule Gbailey also united for the 4x400-meter relay, taking second in 3:26.72, finishing just behind top-finisher Sioux Falls, who crossed in 3:26.60.
The Mustangs are back on the oval next week, competing at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion.
