
Morningside gets last competition in before conference
YANKTON, S.D. – In the final meet before the GPAC Championships, Morningside took advantage of the Mount Marty Last Chance meet to try and improve their marks.
Casey Kruger earned an event win for the Mustangs, running a 1:27.51 in the 600-meters. Chayton Rowe placed ninth in the event with a 1:32.11 time. Garrett Hanson ran 2:36.03 to win the 1,000. RC Hicks (2:42.15) placed fourth and Parker Halder (2:43.24) fifth.
Eein McKinley placed third in the 5,000, running 16:38.12. Nick Schiltz added a fifth place finish in a time of 16:50.
Halder took third place in the mile run, running 4:38.5. Austin Ramold added a seventh place finish in the event in a time of 4:50.01. Rodrigo Lopez ran 2:08.96 for eighth in the 800.
Boston Riedemann ran 9.39 in the 60-meter hurdle prelims to place ninth, missing out on the finals by a spot. Leighton Olesen also missed the finals by a spot in the 60-meter dash, placing ninth with a time of 7.1.
To wrap up the day, the Morningside 1,600-relay team of Lopez, Hicks, Ramold, and Hanson ran 3:52.91.
The Mustangs return to Yankton next weekend for the GPAC Championships.
