
Spicer closes national competition with Top 20 finish
ELKHART, Ind. — Morningside University sophomore John Spicer turned in a Top 20 performance Saturday at the NAIA Swimming and Diving Championships to cap off a great season.
Spicer swam in the 200-yard freestyle race on Saturday, and in the preliminary round, he clocked in at 1 minute, 41.78 seconds. That was good for 18th place, his highest finish among the three races he competed in.
On Thursday, Spicer was in the 50 free, and he finished 37th at 21.51 seconds. He also was a national qualifier in the 100 free on Friday, swimming that race in 46.09 seconds (good for 23rd).
