Spicer to compete in three NAIA swimming events

ELKHART, Ind. — Morningside University men's swimming sophomore John Spicer hopes to have a busy weekend in the water.

Spicer qualified for three events in the NAIA men's swimming and diving championships, which started Thursday at Bethel University (Ind).

The three events that Spicer qualified for were the 50-yard freestyle, the 100 freestyle, and the 200 freestyle.

In the 50 free, Spicer is seeded 29th with a time of 21.07 seconds. His 100 free seed time is 45.81, good for 25th. Spicer's highest seed is 19th in the 200, at 1 minute, 41.52 seconds.

Spicer's schedule looks like this over the next three days:

• 50 free preliminary: 9 a.m. Thursday
• 200 prelims: Around 9:30 a.m. Friday
• 100 prelims: 9 a.m. Saturday
