Mustangs hit season best marks against Saint Ambrose

SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Mustang swimmers hit the water on Saturday afternoon, hosting Saint Ambrose in their home pool. 

Kicking off the meet, the men's 200-yard medley relay of Jake Bolda, Caden Morton, MK Mkhize, and Jack La Rue finished in second place with a time of 1:41.18.

The lanes were stacked with Mustangs in the 1000-yard freestyle event. Alejandro Plaza finished in first with a time of 10:58.83, Ethan Van Tassel placed second at 12:32.05, and Mitchel Cross placed third at 13:36.43.

In the 200-yard freestyle, Bolda had a strong second place finish with a time of 1:53.58. Bradley Palmer touched the wall in fourth place with a time of 1:54.76, and Morton touched in eighth place at 1:57.21.

Morningside was well-represented in the 200-yard individual medley event with a first place finish from Mkize with a time of 2:07.37. In the same event Alec McEntaffer placed fourth at 2:18.08, and Gabe Marthaler placed fifth at 2:26.93.

In the 500-yard freestyle Bolda made another appearance in second place with a time of 5:02.08. In the same event Plaza placed fourth with a time of 5:15.93, Walker Goebel placed fifth at 5:26.36, and Mitchel Cross finished in seventh place at 6:22.90.

Concluding the meet, the 400-yard freestyle relay of Jack La Rue, John Spicer, Palmer, and Goebel had a strong last race and second place finish with a time of 3:20.92. 

The Mustangs will be back at it and on the road Saturday, Nov. 18 for the Gustavus Adolphus Invitational in Saint Paul, Minn.
