Spicer wins KCAC honor

WICHITA, Kan. – Morningside men's swimmer John Spicer was named the KCAC Men's Swimmer of the Month, announced Wednesday by the conference.

Spicer, a freshman from Rock Springs, Wyoming, was selected based on performances from Sept. 1 through Nov. 7. Spicer competed in six races over the course of two duals in that timeframe. 

He won the 100-yard freestyle and 200-yard freestyle relay in a dual against Midland on Oct. 21. He reached the provisional mark at 48.07 seconds in the 100 free. He was a leg of the 1:31.04 200 free relay and also swam on the 200 medley relay team that finished in a time of 1:41.56. 

Against St. Ambrose on Nov. 4, Spicer raced in the 50 and 100 freestyles individually and in the 400 free relay. He reached the provisional mark in the 100 free again, this time swimming 48.45. He completed the 50 free at 22.21 and the relay team finished in a time of 3:20.92. 

The Mustangs are back in action Nov. 18 at the Gustavus Adolphus Invitational in Saint Paul, Minn.
