Morningside hosts Mustang Invitational

SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Wasting no time after the conclusion of classes on Friday evening, the Mustangs continued the season racing in their home pool at the HPER center.

To kick off session one of the meet, Cody Natali, Caden Morton, James Camp, and JR Albers had a third place finish in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:42.15.

In individual events, Willy Pinnow had a third place finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:59.31.

In the fastest event of the evening, Mustangs James Camp and JR Albers finished in sixth and eighth place with times of 22.31 and 22.41.

Saturday morning's session two started with Walker Goebel representing Morningside well in the 1650-yard freestyle event, placing second with a time of 18:55.37. Ben No placed sixth in the event with a time of 20:19.72.

In the long, strenuous 400-yard individual medley, Pinnow swam in second place with a time of 4:36.52.

Later in the day, Natali represented Morningside in the 100-yard backstroke with a second place finish at 55.21, a top ten time for the team.

In the 100-yard individual medley, Albers touched in at 56.48 for second, Morton at 58.09 for third, and Easton Gelinne at 59.30 for fifth. All three mustangs swam into the teams top ten times as well.

The Morningside men's team finished the meet with 477 points, placing third among team scores.

Morningside swimmers will be back on the road Nov. 19 for the Grace Goblirsch Invitational at Gustavus Adolphus in Saint Peter, Minn.
