Mustangs win in season-opening dual

FREMONT, NEB. – Mustang swimmers started the season off at the Fremont YMCA with a dual against Midland University. This meet was a fast one, and not just in the pool, as the pace of the events made for a quick day with Midland coming out on top, 126-101.

The men's 400-yard medley relay of JR Albers, Caden Morton, James Camp, and Willy Pinnow began the meet with a second place finish for a time of 3:42.82.

In the 200-yard freestyle, Pinnow raced well placing second by just two seconds with a time of 1:52.62. He also took second in the 500-yard freestyle event with a time of 5:09.45.

Morningside was well represented in the rigorous 400-yard individual medley. Having the pool to themselves, Walker Goebel came in first place with a time of 4:48.48, Ben No touched second with a time of 5:16.28, and Gabe Marthaler third at 5:21.81.

The 100-yard backstroke was another event that had all lanes full of Mustangs. Cody Natali had a great swim with a time of 56.97 good for first, and teammates Bradley Palmer and Easton Gelinne touched second and third with times of 59.49 and 1:01.16.

For the final event of the day the men's 200-yard freestyle relay of Albers, Jacob Haase, Palmer, and Camp took the win swimming in with a time of 1:31.32

Morningside will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 5 participating in the Iowa Lakes Community College Invitational.
