DES MOINES, Iowa – The Receiving Votes Grand View Vikings took down Morningside 4-1 Saturday evening in Des Moines.
The Mustangs had their chances throughout the match, getting two shots on goal, but it wasn't enough to overcome the firepower brought by the Vikings. After a couple of early chances were off the mark for the Mustangs, Grand View was able to tack on a goal in the 24th minute.
Shortly before the halftime intermission, the Vikings added a second goal. The Vikings added two goals to pad the lead in the second half, but an 88th minute goal for Tassilo Koerner put the Mustangs on the board.
Oliver Melander recorded five saves for the match. Hylan Labigne-Matias had the other shot on goal for the Mustangs.
Morningside starts GPAC play at home Wednesday against Waldorf.
