SIOUX CITY, IOWA – A physical men's soccer match broke out under the hot afternoon sun of Elwood Olsen Stadium today, as Morningside played the Warriors from Waldorf University. The visiting Warriors sidestepped the Mustangs, 4-3.

Morningside scored first, as a Yannik Vogel corner kick found the head of Jona Fischer to cross the plane, giving Morningside a 1-0 advantage in the 18th minute.

The Mustangs saw the opportunity to score again before the clock rolled to the next minute, and Johannes Lang took the shot, beating a defender across the net, sending a shot past the outstretched hands of the keeper, and burying the ball in the back of the net before.

Waldorf responded in kind, netting an almost identical goal in the 19th minute before spreading three more goals across the next 60 minutes of play.

Morningside showed that it wasn't done yet, as Abdullahi Yusuf took a throw in, which found the head of Levi Von Hagen to give the Mustangs a spark for the final eight minutes of play.

Morningside's men's soccer team is back at it on Wednesday, Sept. 7, playing Grand View at 7 p.m. in Elwood Olsen Stadium.
