Mustangs tie single-game scoring mark during southern trip

MARSHALL, MO. – Junior attacker/midfielder Brenda Rorabacher (Eagle, Idaho) added to an already-full cadre of Morningside University program records Saturday, March 19.

Rorabacher kept head coach Jack O'Brien's Mustangs close throughout the afternoon against the host Vikings of Missouri Valley College. He put the visitors up 1-0 less than three minutes in at MVC's Gregg-Mitchell Field. Missouri Valley responded with nine straight scores before Rorabacher found the back of the net again off an assist from freshman attacker/midfielder Sean-Michael Corbin (Fort Myers, Fla.) during a man-up situation with less than six minutes to go. However, the Vikings surged with four goals in the last three minutes of the half and went on to a 17-4 Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference victory, tying Morningside's mark for most goals in a match.

Rorabacher added one more goal for a hat trick, the program's first. He also set a new single-match points mark (three) and shots record (14). Corbin joined Rorabacher on the goals list as the freshman tallied one successful offensive strike and the one assist over the 40 minutes.

Morningside (0-5 overall, 0-5 KCAC) forfeited a match at the University of Saint Mary's of Kansas March 20 and a home clash with Missouri Baptist March 26 due to player numbers. Mside is scheduled to be back in action at Ottawa University Monday, March 28.
