Mustangs compete with nationally ranked field at Midwest Spring National Invite

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Morningside made the trip down to Manhattan, Kan. for the Midwest Spring National Invite, and tied for seventh as a team in a strong field.

The Mustangs finished at 42-over par over the course of three rounds Monday and Tuesday. They tied Ottawa (Kan.), finishing as the top GPAC team in the field. After being in ninth place as a team Monday, Morningside had the fourth best team score Tuesday at 9-over, climbing two positions in the standings. 

Individually, Braden Bernaldo tied for fifth at 1-under par for the tournament. Bernaldo had five birdies Tuesday, and was in the lead or tied for the lead for most of the week. He had the most birdies of any competitor in the field with 17 over 54 holes. 

Edgar Eriksson totaled 11 birdies in three rounds, finishing in a tie for 18th at 7-over. Brandon Gratton was third for the Mustangs and tied for 34th overall at 12-over. Jackson Mann finished at 27-over and Mason Burger at 29-over. 

Morningside is back in action at the Iowa Central Community College Spring Invite in Fort Dodge, Iowa Friday and Saturday.
