Men's bowling competes in Lawrence

LAWRENCE, KAN. – It was a busy weekend in Kansas as the Mustangs competed in a pair of Tier 2 competitions as the regular season nears its close. As the long weekend came to a close for Morningside's men, they added a 15th place and 17th place finish to their season's results.

Saturday's competition saw the Mustangs topple 4,387 pins in individual games before moving to 12 Baker games where 2,152 pins were added to the day's total. Morningside's overall total was 6,539 pins, with less than 50 pins separating them from the next spot in the standings.

Brenden Lewis finished first for Morningside in five individual games, tallying a 1,019 and ranking no. 19 in the tournament. Chace Mohrhauser was next, at no. 68, with 876 pins, and Zachary Stoltzfus finished third for the Mustangs, ranking no. 74 as he bowled as part of the JV fivesome.

Sunday's shorter competition leaned on a set of seven individual games to set the final rankings, with the Mustangs knocking down 5,520 pins. Nick Philthilath led the way with 1,160 total pins in the no. 45 spot. Christian Schmadeke was the next Mustang, knocking down 1,142 pins, and Michael Swancutt was third for the Mustangs, with 1,139 pins. Mohrhauser finished just outside of the top 50, at no. 51, with 1,135 pins. Schmadeke and Swancutt represented Morningside's JV group.

The Mustangs will be back to the lanes on February 24 and 25, as they compete in the Unaffiliated Conference Tournament.
