Mustangs climb nine spots in NAIA poll to No. 14

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Morningside University men's basketball team moved up in a big way in Wednesday's edition of the national coaches poll.

Morningside will sit at No. 14 heading into the holidays, with a 9-1 record as of Dec. 11. Previously, the Mustangs were 23rd.

The Mustangs have won four straight games, and have scored 82 or more points in each of those victories.

Morningside is seventh in the NAIA in points per game at 94.3, and it has the nation's second-highest shooting percentage at 55 percent overall and 45 percent from 3-point range.

Joey Skoff is the nation's No. 5 leading scorer at 23.4 ppg, good for second in the Great Plains Athletic Conference. Aidan Vanderloo and Alex Wilcoxson are the GPAC's Top 2 3-point shooters at 69 and 65 percent, respectively.

Brendan Buckley's 4.9 assists per game is good for second in the conference, while his 7.0 rebounds per game ranks seventh.
