SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Morningside's shooters finally got a taste of the hot streak that other teams seem to find in Allee Gym today, shooting nearly 60 percent overall and 50 percent from beyond the arc in a bench-clearing 100-50 victory.
The Mustangs were in the Thanksgiving spirit early, as Justin Sitti's seven assists matched Doane's team total. Aidan Vanderloo followed with five and Brendan Buckley and Brayden Dinkla each had four. Morningside tallied 29 assists in the contest, just short of the single game record of 33.
That's not to say that the Mustangs' usual suspects weren't scoring, as the starting five accounted for half of the team's points, with Joey Skoff tallying 19 and Sitti hitting for 17. Daniel Brocaille led the reserves for the other half, matching Skoff to co-lead all scorers. Alex Wilcoxson added nine and Charlie Fletcher was good for six points.
Brocaille and Fletcher led all rebounders, sharing the top spot with a pair of Tigers, all with five boards each. Caleb Dreckman followed with four defensive caroms.
Morningside hits the road on Tuesday, traveling to Waldorf in a holiday-shortened week, with the Great Plains Athletic Conference contest scheduled for a 7:45 p.m. tip.
