Mustangs cruise to 93-78 win over Lourdes

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – In the NAIA Men's Basketball First and Second Round presented by Ballogy Friday evening, Morningside jumped out to an early lead and ran away with a 93-78 win over Lourdes to advance to the second round Saturday afternoon.

The Mustangs built a double digit halftime lead on the backs of Joey Skoff and Ely Doble. Skoff poured in 21 first half points, nearly half of Morningside's 49 first-half points. Doble added 10 points in the half. 

Lourdes cut the lead to single digits in the second half, but Morningside kept the foot on the pedal to keep Lourdes out of reach. Skoff added 17 to his total to finish with 38 points. Doble added 13 for 23 points for the game. 

Aidan Vanderloo added 11 points and Brendan Buckley pitched in nine points. The Mustangs only made two three-pointers on 10 tries, but managed 35-for-60 from the field for over 58% shooting. 

Morningside is back in action Saturday in the second round, facing Georgetown at 1:30 p.m. Students receive free admission with valid student ID.
