Morningside moves on in men's basketball postseason tournament

SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Morningside faced a formidable foe in the quarterfinals of this year's Great Plains Athletic Conference postseason tournament, as the no. 4 Mustangs collided with the no. 5 Jamestown Jimmies for the third time this year. Jamestown may have pulled off the upset twice this season already, but it was Morningside that came away with the win when it counted, downing the Jimmies 89-72 to move on to the GPAC semifinals.

While Morningside ended up with a comfortable lead at the end, the Mustangs lead was just four points with less than nine minutes to play, when Jack Dotzler hit a three to start Morningside's push to the final score.

Ely Doble and Joey Skoff led the Mustangs on offense, with 21 points apiece. Dotzler followed with 16, and Aidan Vanderloo had 15.

Doble had nine boards to lead all players with Justin Sitti and Brendan Buckley following with seven each. Dotzler and Skoff had four apiece.

The Mustangs advance to Saturday's semifinal game at Northwestern, tipping off at 3 p.m. in Orange City.
