SIOUX CENTER, Iowa – With just two-and-a-half weeks remaining in the regular season, No. 19 Morningside is one of four teams tied for first place in the GPAC standings, and Wednesday's 87-83 win against Dordt helped keep the Mustangs in the running.
Morningside led for a majority of the first half, but Dordt pulled ahead in the waning moments of the half to lead 46-43 at the intermission. After a back-and-forth start to the second half, Morningside opened up a lead that the Defenders couldn't overcome.
Morningside limited turnovers, committing six while hitting 42% of their shots from the field and from beyond the arc. Ely Doble tallied 27 points and five rebounds, going 12-for-12 at the free throw line. The Mustangs were 20-for-21 at the charity stripe on the evening.
Aidan Vanderloo added 18 points and Brendan Buckley contributed 10 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double. Joey Skoff added 13 points.
