No. 19 Mustangs explode past Concordia 101-89

SEWARD, Neb. – No. 19 Morningside eclipsed triple digits in the 2023-24 GPAC opener, defeating Concordia 101-89 Wednesday night in Seward.

The Mustangs had four players in double figures, led by Ely Doble's 34 points and seven rebounds. Doble had 20 first-half points on 9-of-12 shootings to guide Morningside to a 45-44 halftime advantage. The Mustangs hit 19-of-33 shots in the half.

The second half saw the Mustangs have three players in double figures, highlighted by a 14-point, 7-assist, 4-rebound second half from Jack Dotzler, who had zero points at the half. Morningside also hit 21-of-23 shots from the charity stripe to keep the Bulldogs out of reach. 

Dotzler finished with a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds. Joey Skoff had 26 points and seven boards. Aidan Vanderloo picked up 16 points and Brendan Buckley had 11 rebounds to lead the team. 

The Mustangs are home for the first time this season Saturday, when they play host to Mount Marty in a GPAC contest at 3:45 p.m. inside Allee Gymnasium and the Rosen Verdoorn Sports Center
