Morningside defeats Mount Marty 88-74

Mustangs nothing to Skoff at

SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Morningside men's basketball improved to 8-2 and a conference-leading 4-1 following an 88-74 victory over Mount Marty in Allee Gym today. The Mustangs led by as many as 25 at one point in the contest.

Morningside shot 46 percent from the field, making 29 of 63 shots from the floor, including 9 of 30 three-pointers. The Mustangs pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 27 points off of Mount Marty's 14 turnovers, while only losing the ball on eight occasions.

Joey Skoff had 23 points for Morningside, dishing five assists, while recording two steals and one blocked shot.

Brendan Buckley had 10 rebounds in the contest, leading all players. Seven of Buckley's boards came on the defensive end of the floor.

Ely Doble followed Skoff with 17 points and six rebounds, collecting five boards on offense. Trey Powers had 14 points, and Jack Dotzler had 10.

Coming off the bench, Aidan Vanderloo had 10 points, going 4-for-4 at the free throw line. Will Pottebaum had seven bench points.

The Mustang men follow the women into rivalry week, traveling to Briar Cliff for a 7:45 p.m. contest on Wednesday, Dec. 7, before heading to Northwestern on Saturday for a 2:45 p.m. tip.
