Mside rolls at BCU Classic, stops skid

SIOUX CITY, IOWA – Strong ball control and a 50-plus percent shooting outing lifted Morningside University in non-conference action Tuesday, Dec. 28.

Head coach Trent Miller's team committed only nine turnovers to go with their 32-of-60 (53.3 percent) field goal accuracy to lead the way in an 89-73 win over North Star Athletic Association foe Waldorf University. Putting the brakes on a three-game losing string, Mside scored 15 of the game's first 22 points and didn't look back.

Sophomore guard Joey Skoff (Bellevue, Neb.) resumed an impressive scoring run, posting 20 points. It was his second 20-point-plus total in the last four contests, a span in which he's averaged 14.75 points. He was also the squad leader in steals with four.

Skoff's late-afternoon binge topped four Mustangs in double figures. Senior center Trey Brown (Gretna, Neb.) produced a 16-point, eight-rebound stat line; sophomore guard Aidan Vanderloo (Sioux City, Iowa) also finished with 16, hitting three treys along the way; and senior guard Zach Imig (Gretna, Neb.) wound up with 11 points, eight rebounds, and six assists.

Morningside (8-4) moves back into Great Plains Athletic Conference action Saturday, Jan. 1. Game time at the University of Jamestown's Harold Newman Center is 4 p.m.
