Mside turned away in Cruzin' Classic clash

FT. LAUDERDALE, FLA. – A fast-starting Peru State College team was the difference in non-conference action Friday, Dec. 17.

Morningside University, looking to put the brakes on a recent skid and sweep a two-game season set against the Bobcats of the Heart of America Conference, couldn't overcome a 19-7 deficit in the early going and was toppled 83-63 during play at the Cruzin' Classic at St. Thomas University's Hernandez Family Center.

Senior center Trey Brown (Gretna, Neb.) guided head coach Trent Miller's squad, narrowly missing a double-double with nine points and seven rebounds to go with two blocked shots. Sophomore guard Aidan Vanderloo (Sioux City, Iowa) picked up eight points and dishes out two assists as part of the Mustangs' box score highlights.

Morningside (7-4) had its second contest at the Cruzin' Classic canceled due to COVID-19 protocols within the St. Thomas University team. They're scheduled to return to action Tuesday, Dec. 28, at the Briar Cliff University Classic against Waldorf University.
