Strong start slips away from Mustangs

JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Morningside's men's basketball team looked to keep its record mostly unblemished as it headed into the final game of the regular season. The University of Jamestown Jimmies overcame a slow start to get the best of the Mustangs, 88-75.

Morningside led by as many as nine with 14:50 to play in the first half before Jamestown came back and stretched out to an eight point lead at halftime. The second half saw the Jimmies reach a 17 point lead.

The Mustangs were led in scoring by Alex Borchers (JR/South Sioux City, NE ) and Tyler Borchers (JR/Le Mars, IA ) with 16 points each. Brody Egger (SR/Urbandale, IA) rounded out the double digit scorers for Morningside with 11.

Tyler Borchers led the Mustangs with 11 rebounds, followed by Zach Imig (SO/Gretna, NE ) with 6 and Egger with 5.

Morningside takes its 25-2 overall and 18-2 GPAC record and hosts the Quarterfinal Round of the GPAC Post-Season Tournament on Wednesday, February 20 at 7:00 P.M. in Rosen-Verdoorn Sports Center's Allee Gymnasium.
