Boyd Jr. named to AFCA NAIA All-America Team

WACO, Texas – Lonell Boyd Jr. was named to the first team of the AFCA NAIA Coaches' All-America Team, announced by the AFCA Wednesday morning.

Boyd Jr., a redshirt junior defensive back from St. Louis, Missouri, earned first team honors as a leader of a stout Morningside defense. He totaled 100 tackles, nine tackles for a loss, five interceptions, three pass breakups, and two blocks.

Boyd Jr. was the leader of a defensive backfield that allowed 218.1 passing yards per game and 17.3 points per game allowed. Morningside finished the season at 9-3 with an 8-2 conference record.
