No. 3 Morningside remains unbeaten with 27-3 win at Dakota Wesleyan

MITCHELL, S.D. – The No. 3 Mustangs faced one of their strongest opponents of the season so far Saturday, taking down the 5-1 Dakota Wesleyan Tigers in Mitchell 27-3.

Ryan Cole, after missing much of the first six games of the season, had a strong performance with three touchdowns and nearly 100 yards rushing. 

Cole's first score of the game came just over nine minutes in, when he took one in from 31 yards out. His second score made it 20-0 midway through the second quarter as he punched in an 11-yard rush. His third came late in the third quarter from six yards away, and was the final score of the game.

The lone Mustangs score not by Ryan Cole was from Lennx Brown on a four-yard run in the second quarter. Dakota Welseyan's field goal was scored with 1:45 to go until halftime.

Brown rushed for 122 yards on 17 carries and Cole ran for 94 yards on 18 carries. Brown was also 3-for-3 passing for 13 yards. Cash Parker passed for 78 yards. Zach Norton had four receptions for 42 yards and Drew Sellon caught three passes for 39 yards.

The defense came up with two interceptions as well. Lonell Boyd Jr. and Dijion Walls had interceptions and Boyd Jr. picked up 13 tackles (six solo). Isaac Pingel tallied 19 tackles (10 solo). The Mustangs had six tackles for a loss in the game. 

The Mustangs take on Jamestown at Elwood Olsen Stadium Saturday at 1 p.m.
