Dolincheck, Portis recognized by @NAIAFBALL
Senior quarterback Joe Dolincheck (Bellevue, Neb.) and senior linebacker Jalen Portis (St. Louis, Mo.) were tabbed Players of the Week by @NAIAFBALL on Twitter Monday, Nov. 29.
Dolincheck, the Offensive Player of the Week as presented by Maumee BayTurf, Inc., Sportsfield Constructors, compiled 417 passing yards and five touchdowns to help send second-seeded Morningside University past 10th-seeded Kansas Wesleyan University in the quarterfinals of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics' Championship Series Nov. 27. His aerial successes accounted for better than 75 percent of the total offense and more than 64 percent of the first downs for the high-powered Mustangs offense.
Portis was named the Defensive Player of the Week as presented by Maumee BayTurf, Inc., Sportsfield Constructors. He was a constant threat to the Coyotes' offense, producing eight tackles to tie for the unit high. Portis also forged two sacks and tackles for losses that went for negative 36 yards for the visitors.
Morningside (12-0) hosts fourth-seeded Northwestern College (12-1) in one of two national semifinals Saturday, Dec. 4, at 12 p.m.
