Sims garners national Player of Week honors

Morningside University senior running back Anthony Sims (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) added two more Player of the Week honors late Monday, Oct. 11.

The Great Plains Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week was named @NAIAFBALL on Twitter and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics' top offensive contributor for the week of Oct. 4-10, too. Sims joined senior teammate Joe Dolincheck (Bellevue, Neb.) in being named a 2021 NAIA Player of the Week.

Sims set a new Morningside and GPAC single-game record for rushing paydirt strikes with six, five of which occurred in the first half, while tying a program mark for total touchdowns in a game that had stood since 1917. It was his third successive multiple-score outing, as Sims has tallied 14 over his last three outings. During a 62-7 GPAC win at Hastings College Oct. 9, he romped for 203 yards on 12 carries for an impressive 16.9 yards per carry.
