Mustangs claim top spot in final competition before championships

SIOUX CENTER, IOWA – Morningside claimed the top spot in a its final competition before the Great Plains Athletic Conference championships and NAIA regional qualifier, recording its highest score of the year, an 89.87, at the Dordt University Invitational.

"We were happy with our score, but at the end of the day the score doesn't matter because it'll be a whole new set of judges at our next competition," remarked coach Alisha Knowler following the competition.

Morningside's 89.87 edged out would-be spoiler Viterbo, who recorded an 89.5.  Host Dordt followed, recording a 77.77.

"I thought the team responded well to the changes that we made, especially in such a short period of time," assessed Knowler.  "We'll continue to work on things, clean up, and change what we need to to improve and put on a couple of great performances this week."
