Mustangs top triangular at Viking Challenge

DES MOINES, IOWA – A first place finish in its second round triangular was the highlight of Morningside Cheer's debut today at the Viking Challenge hosted by Grand View University.

The Mustangs' winning score in their dual was 70.2 points, with competitors Clarke and Simpson of California following at 52.85 and 44.65 points, respectively. Morningside's routine had just half a point in deductions.

The day's opener against St. Ambrose, who is currently ranked no. 2 in the country, saw the Mustangs lay down a zero deduction routine for a score of 69.6 points. St. Ambrose lived up to expectations, though, posting a 93.2 in the opener.

Morningside is headed to York on Friday before competing in Concordia's Day of Duals on Saturday in Seward.
