SIOUX CITY, Iowa — On Sunday, the Morningside baseball team earned two wins on the road with 11-1 and 12-8 outcomes.
Ten of the 11 runs in Game 1 came via the home run. Michael Delzell got the scoring started with a two-run homer in the first inning. Later in the first, Giacomo Crosetti blasted a three-run shot that made it a 5-0.
The Mustangs then homered thrice during the second inning from Connor Woods, Sam Wilt and Jacob O'Dell.
Wilt also drove in the Mustangs' 11th run during the fifth inning.
Ryan Kiolbassa and Delzell added on doubles during the game.
Kai Purdy-Burton held the Tigers to one run during the seven-inning game. Purdy-Burton pitched all seven innings. He struck out five hitters.
In Game 2, Morningside jumped out to a 6-0 lead. During the first inning, the Mustangs scored on a wild pitch, a passed ball, and a double steal. Hayden Hixon then scored Woods with an RBI single, and later, Crosetti drove home two more runs.
Morningside scored four more runs during the fifth inning. Snyder drove in two with a single after O'Dell earned an RBI single. Snyder scored on a Tigers error.
The Tigers made the game tight late, but the Mustangs added two insurance runs during the ninth, thanks to a two-run single by Crosetti.
