Shutout week leads to Pitcher of the Week nod for Hymer
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – For the second consecutive week, Morningside baseball has claimed the GPAC Pitcher of the Week award, as Mason Hymer was lights out in relief last week.
Hymer is a junior from Tacoma, Washington. He made two relief appearances, pitching six-and-a-third innings without allowing a run. He recorded the save in a shutout inning against Northwestern Thursday, then tossed five-and-a-third shutout in an 11-inning 1-0 win over Hastings Saturday.
Hymer struck out six on the week, picking up a save and a win in his two appearances. Hymer and the Mustangs play four with Briar Cliff Saturday and Sunday at Mercy One Field at Lewis and Clark Park.
