Baseball held scoreless in GPAC opener

MITCHELL, S.D. – The Mustangs started GPAC play with a doubleheader at Mitchell Friday afternoon. The Tigers won game one 1-0 and game two 6-0.

It took extra innings to decide a winner in game one as neither side could muster up a run in regulation. The Tigers struck for a run in the bottom of the tenth to walk it off. Morningside racked up eight hits, including two from Ryan Kiolbassa and Cade Nolan. Aiden Bishop pitched seven and one-third innings without allowing a run. Bishop struck out four. Mason Hymer pitched two and a third in relief.

Dakota Wesleyan tallied six runs in the third inning to win game two 6-0. Five different Mustangs recorded base hits. Conner Maston pitched two innings, allowing four runs in the loss. Josh Pratt and Mason Rego pitched for Morningside.

The Mustangs are back in action Saturday at Midland.
