Willers headlines baseball all-conference honors

SIOUX CITY, IOWA – The Great Plains Athletic Conference continued to roll out its spring all-conference teams today, adding Morningside Baseball to the list of teams receiving accolades.

Jayson Willers headlined the release for Morningside, receiving the first team all-conference nod following a .389 season with 12 home runs, 58 runs batted in, 301 putouts, and a .991 fielding percentage as he sat behind the plate.

Alex Calabrese, Eddie Brancato, Hunter Hope, and Wade Canaday were all second team selections. Calabrese hit .340 with nine home runs, 37 RBIs, and four stolen bases this season. Brancato was .355 with six homers, 42 RBIs, and two stolen bases. Hope hit .331 with 40 RBIs, scoring 33 times. Canaday went 7-3 in 15 pitching appearances, striking out 68 in 71.1 innings with an earned run average of 4.29.

Brian Garcia, Josh Pratt, Elijah Rude, Nick Grajeda, Aiden Bishop, and Kai Purdy-Burton all were recognized as honorable mention.
