Mside toppled by GPAC leaders

SEWARD, NEB. – The bats were out for Morningside College at Concordia University's Plum Creek Park Monday, April 15.

Head coach Adam Boeve's crew registered five extra-base hits over the course of 14 innings against the Great Plains Athletic Conference-leading Bulldogs. Junior Nic Metcalf (JR/Sedro Wooley, WA) (Sedro Wooley, Wash.) led the attack, homering in the nightcap and lining a triple in the opener, while sophomore Jordan Pierce (SO/Carlisle, IA ) (Carlisle, Iowa) smacked a homer and sophomore Adam Carlson (SO/Baldwin City, KS) (Baldwin City, Kan.) and junior Sam Huska (JR/Windom, MN) (Windom, Minn.) each tallied doubles in game one.

Despite those accolades amidst a 14-hit attack, the Maroon was side-stepped by its hosts in both contests. Concordia scored nine runs over the first three frames in game one and rallied from a 4-0 deficit in game two to earn a 9-5, 8-4 league sweep.

The Mustangs (20-13 overall, 10-9 GPAC) return home Wednesday, April 17, for a non-conference twin bill against North Star Athletic Association foe Dakota State University. First pitch at Lewis and Clark Park's Mercy Field is 2:30 p.m.
