ORANGE CITY, IOWA – Drew Kasperbauer (Sioux City, Iowa) paced a 19-run, 27-hit attack for Morningside College Friday, April 5.
The senior crushed home runs in the first and second games of a Great Plains Athletic Conference twin bill at Northwestern College's baseball diamond. The two round-trippers were part of a four-hit, eight-RBI performance that helped buoy the Mustangs to a road league sweep by 10-6 and 9-6 scores.
Kasperbauer was joined by sophomores Levi Davidson (SO/Dakota City, NE) (Dakota City, Neb.) and Carter Kratz (SO/Vermillion, SD) (Vermillion, S.D.) who each had three hits in the nightcap, enabling a four-run late innings comeback to break up a 5-5 tie. Davidson also blasted a homer on his line. Sophomore Jordan Pierce (SO/Carlisle, IA ) also put a ball over the fence during the evening, hitting a long ball in the opener, while Davidson, junior Nic Metcalf (FR/Sedro Wooley, WA) (Sedro Wooley, Wash.) and sophomore Brandon McClintock (SO/Omaha, NE ) (Omaha, Neb.) each tallied two hits.
The Mustangs (18-10 overall, 8-6 GPAC), part of a logjam in the middle of the loop standings, return home to Lewis and Clark Park Saturday, April 6. First pitch vs. Hastings College of Nebraska is 3 p.m.
